Take a guess: How much water is in our products? Let the water cubes shine!

From June 13 to September 2, 2024, an exciting light installation was set up in the foyer of the canteen (Mensa) of the Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe on South Campus of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. The Virtual Water light installation by finep uses illuminated water canisters to illustrate the water consumed in the production of various (everyday) products. The installation is part of the European educational project Water of the Future. The 'Water of the Future' project is funded by the European Union's Development Education and Awareness Raising (DEAR) programme. finep is responsible for the content.
During the exhibition period of almost three months, visitors of the Mensa am Campus Süd were invited to find out how much water their morning coffee or a mango, for example, really consumes.
The "Virtual Water" light installation is a joint initiative of the Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The light installation is part of the Klima.Länd.Tage Baden-Württemberg campaign.
